Family Self Sufficiency
The Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) program, originally established within the
Section 8 program, is a voluntary program designed to assist families in
achieving economic independence and self-sufficiency through education and
job training.
Criteria for participation includes:
- Section 8 certificate or voucher.
- Motivation to change your life circumstances.
- Interested in developing a plan to direct your goals.
- Determined and Committed to free yourself from government assistance.
Support Services Available
The FSS program provides for collaboration with local agencies and service
providers to address a wide variety of family issues including:
- Child Care/Transportation/Budgeting/Counseling.
- Education (H.S. diploma, GED, Community College and Four Year
institutions).
- Job Search and Work Skills/Legal Services
- Parenting Skills/Health/Food & Nutrition
- Career Guidance Counseling
- Communication Skills/Stress Management
- Drug & Alcohol Counseling
- Stress Management/Self-Esteem/Motivation
